Paul and Lurene M. Denke’s story of joining the Street Masters car club.

As the story is told it happened this way.  Paul was attending Watertown Vo-Tech and wrecked his blue 2 door Valarie. Went shopping with his Mom and Dad at Dodge Town in Rapid City and fell for a two door 1972 Plymouth Gold Duster. Practical Dad said you need a 1966 Tan Valiant. Complaining to Mom, she gave in and to appease her boys she bought the Duster for Paul and the Valiant for Dad’s Fishing car.

Well life happened and the Duster was not practical for a new family with house payments and fixing up a car. So the Duster was sold to an eager young man who found out high speed and gravel roads don’t mix.  Needless to say the Duster was history. Later on in life’s journey we ended up at Dodge town in Rapid City, again in 2005 at the Car show.

Angie Huxford and Phalan had their 1966 Yellow two doors Valiant for sell to help pay for their wedding.  Mom Denke thought too long and hard on buying the car and they took Lurene’s check first.  Paul drove it home from Rapid City sight unseen as a mechanic on a very hot day.  Lurene and the nephew’s from California followed in the van to make sure he made it home safe.

So now we own the car that still needs to be fixed up.  It is fun to drive and turning heads still.

We joined the car Club in 2005 shortly before our 25th wedding anniversary.

Paul thought he needed another yellow car so he bought a 2006 yellow Route 66 PT Cruiser.  Forty years apart on the two yellow cars.  So needless to say we are the want –to-bee cruisers on the strip.
