Wanda Greving, 74, Passes

Wanda and James joined our Street Masters family in August 2022.
Please keep the Greving family in your thoughts and prayers.

Wanda Rea Greving, 74, of Pierre, SD went to her heavenly home, no longer in need of her broken earthly body, on January 27, 2023 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.

Wanda Rea Rivers was born in Osage, Iowa to Ryal and Maxine Rivers on September 8, 1948. She graduated from Sheldon Community High School class of ’67. Wanda and James “Jim” Greving met over a shared love of their Plymouth Roadrunners. Wanda worked at Northwestern Bell telephone company, while dating, Jim would call for time and temperature to talk with Wanda. They were married on September 4, 1970. Wanda also worked as a dispatch operator at the Sheldon, Iowa police station.

When their daughter, Crystal, was born Wanda became a full-time homemaker, later working at the Sheldon school cafeteria and Ben Franklin craft store. She left the workforce twice to care for family in their final days.

Wanda loved to laugh, smile and visit with others. Strangers quickly became long lasting friends, including Burger King coffee and Facebook friends. She cherished her family, including the 4-legged, furry ones. Wanda enjoyed “girls’ trips” with her daughter and vacations to the hills. She filled her home with Jon Crane prints, giraffes and chalkstone.

Wanda is survived by her husband James Greving, daughter and son-in-law Crystal and Jason Hanson, 2 grand-puppies and numerous friends.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Ryal and Maxine Rivers, sister Sandra Kliven, father and mother-in-law Walter and Alberta Greving.

In honor of her final wishes, no funeral services will be held.
